Haiku Friday: Pink Blizzard

cherry tree in bloom --
gently swirling pink blizzard
drifts and paints the steps.

i wait all year to
scoop up soft petals and make
playful poofy snowballs.

when rain falls, petals
are splash-plastered to the bricks,
nature's can of paint.

leaf blowers protest,
blowhards powerless against
the pink dot onslaught.

before green bursts forth,
nature celebrates spring with
a confetti blast!

How About a Haiku Weekend?

It's not that I forgot about ...

Haiku Friday

... it's more that the haiku I wrote sounded the same as all my others -- in fact I managed to blend seasonal and maudlin haiku and I just didn't want to post another sorry-sounding poem! Here's Kari's fun haiku for the week (there's even a contest attached).

And, since I wrote it already anyway (in bed Thursday night), here's mine:

The drops of rain are
bullets to a daffodil,
lullaby for me.

I'll try again next week!!!

Spring Contrasts: Flowers Old and New

From my in-laws' backyard:

From my building's front area:

I.... don't have anything else to say today! I hope to take more flower photos this year than last year. Can you believe I have not yet plugged in the camera I won at BlogHer last year? It's been sitting on my desk collecting dust.

What's sitting right under your nose collecting dust and reminding you of fallen intentions?

Haiku Friday: Anxiety and Sunshine

Haiku Friday

wind etches the cliff
like lines of worry on the
face i hold so dear

I don't totally know why I wrote this haiku. It came to me last night as I lay in bed. Husband and I are anxious about several things (not the least of which was my Masters of Client Attraction call yesterday, which went really well, and his today!); maybe that's why.

Dear Internet, I love you too much to end on this downer. So, part 2:

Happy sunshine warms
wings and beaks, arms and noses --
chirps and smiles emerge.

Is It Spring Yet? Haiku Friday

Haiku Friday

Through the stale dry earth
thin knives of green cut upward,
take in air and sun

A chill edge of night
makes the leaves hug together
until warm spring stays.
